Aion 2 Class Progression Explained for New Players

Aion 2 has revamped class progression into a fluid, skill-based system that rewards both planning and hands-on combat. Unlike many traditional MMORPGs where you start with a broad archetype and refine it later, Aion 2 asks you to choose a permanent, specific class at character creation. There are no gender locks, and the level cap is streamlined at 45, keeping progression focused and fast-paced. How you develop your chosen class will heavily impact your effectiveness in both PvE and PvP scenarios.

The 8 Launch Classes & Their Roles

Aion 2 maintains the classic "Holy Trinity"—Tank, Healer, DPS—but adds modern action elements like manual dodging, parrying, and skill combos. Each class offers a distinct playstyle:

  • Templar – The ultimate frontline tank. Excels in crowd control, high defense, and survivability.
  • Gladiator – A bruiser off-tank with heavy-hitting weapons, AoE attacks, and life-steal abilities.
  • Assassin – Stealthy melee DPS, specializing in high burst damage from close range.
  • Ranger – Mobile ranged physical DPS, utilizing bows, traps, and a 30-second personal stealth ability.
  • Sorcerer – Magic DPS with strong elemental attacks and dynamic movement options.
  • Cleric – Essential healer and support, a cornerstone for group content.
  • Spiritmaster / Bard – Tactical and magic-oriented support roles that complete the roster of eight classes.

Each class feels distinct in combat, and your success will hinge on understanding its strengths, weaknesses, and synergy with group play.

Key Progression Systems

To maximize your effectiveness, focus on four core progression pillars:

Character Leveling → Daevanion Boards → Skill Threshold Sockets → Alt Character Funneling

1. Character Leveling (1–45)

  • Main Campaign Focus: The fastest way to level from 1 to 30 is by following the main story quests, often called Episodes. They provide strong XP rewards and introduce you to game mechanics naturally.
  • Post-Level 30: Progress slows after level 30. You’ll need to mix story missions with regional side quests and dungeon grinding to keep advancing efficiently.
  • Combat Style: Auto-combat is absent. You’ll manually chain skills, dodge telegraphed boss attacks, and position strategically to survive, making gameplay engaging and skill-driven.

2. Daevanion Boards – Unlocking True Power

Level alone doesn’t define your strength; the Daevanion Boards are where your power spikes.

  • Daevanion Points: Earned from side quests, regional missions, and sealed dungeons, these points unlock nodes on grid-like boards.
  • Node Types:
    • Blue Nodes: Boost active skill levels.
    • Green Nodes: Upgrade passive abilities.
    • Stat Nodes: Improve HP, Critical Strike, Defense, and Attack Power.

Investing in these boards early and strategically can make a noticeable difference in combat performance.

3. Skill Sockets & Customization

As your skills level up, they unlock customization options that can reshape your class.

  • Level 8 Threshold: Your first skill socket unlocks at level 8.
  • Mechanic Changers: These upgrades can patch weaknesses. For example, a Sorcerer’s Firestorm can be modified to cast while moving—crucial for endgame bosses.
  • Self-Sustain: Early skill socket upgrades often restore HP or provide lifesteal, giving solo players the ability to survive tougher content.

4. The Alt Character Funnel Economy

Daily resource caps can slow progression on a single character. Using alternative characters (“alts”) is essential for efficient growth.

  • Alt Creation: Rush alts to levels 35–45 via the main campaign.
  • Daily Runs: Farm dungeons like Fire Temple (Explore Mode) with all alts to gather unique gear and Kinah (gold).
  • Resource Funnel: Transfer gear and gold from alts to your main character to reroll stats, enhance equipment, and purchase vital materials.

This system encourages smart multi-character management, giving you long-term efficiency and flexibility in gearing and leveling.

Aion 2’s class progression is a blend of strategic planning and hands-on combat skill. Understanding your chosen class, investing wisely in Daevanion Boards, customizing skill sockets, and leveraging alt characters will define your journey. By following these systems, new players can smoothly scale from beginner-friendly content to endgame challenges while experiencing each class's full depth.
