One of the familiar features making a return is The Trial, which a lot of longtime fans have missed. It is set up as a six-player team event against six Unbeatable Drivatars, so it still has that awkward, slightly chaotic feel that people either love or hate. If you can get a decent team together, though, it is one of the quickest ways to stack points and move toward the rewards that matter.

Series 2 is also adding a new twist to Hokubu Time Attack Circuit. This is not just about chasing clean laps anymore. In this update, the circuit can work as a shared social space, almost like a rolling car meet where players can bring out their own builds and show them off. That does not replace the actual racing side of Time Attack, of course. If you want credits and proper progress, you still need to drive hard and trim those lap times. But for players who like hanging around with friends, or even randoms, it sounds like a nice change of pace instead of another pure grind event.

The new cars worth paying attention to

There are ten new reward cars tied to Festival Playlist across the Series 2 period, and a few of them will get people talking straight away. The first one up is the 1993 Porsche 911 Turbo S Leichtbau, which unlocks after you earn 80 Playlist points over the month. That car has a proper cult following for a reason. It was built in tiny numbers, and the whale tail alone makes it feel special before you even get in and drive it.

Then there is the 1989 Volkswagen Rallye Golf, which drops during the summer week once you hit 20 points. It is a fun pick because it is not just another shiny collectible. This one was made with rally use in mind, with all-wheel drive and a supercharged 1.7-liter engine, so it should feel lively on dirt and mixed surfaces. After that comes the 2006 Dodge Ram SRT-10, which is exactly the kind of oddball muscle-truck mashup Forza likes to celebrate. Under the hood is a Viper V10, and that alone is enough to make it a crowd puller. The rest of the Playlist rewards include the 2018 Lotus Exige Cup 430, 1988 Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV, 1998 TVR Cerbera Speed 12, 1993 Schuppan 962CR, 2003 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning, 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R, and 2017 Saleen S7 LM.

Car Pass additions and smaller unlocks

Series 2 is not stopping at Playlist rewards. Four more cars are arriving through Car Pass, and if you already own it, the 2023 Audi R8 Coupé V10 GT RWD will land in your garage automatically. The other three are the 1974 Mazda #123 Mad Mike 808 Wagon "FURSTY", the 1998 Nissan Skyline GT-R 40th Anniversary, and the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla. That is a pretty mixed batch, which is good. It gives collectors, drift fans, and everyday players something different to chase instead of another run of near-identical supercars.

There are also a few new badges tied to the event. Some are the sort of thing people will get without trying, while others will make you jump through a little hoop or two. One asks you to complete each type of Festival Playlist activity. Another wants you to take part during the Horizon Decades Playlist event. The last one is tied to driving the 2006 Dodge Ram SRT-10 into the Evolving World Car Meet, which feels like the kind of challenge that will make players laugh first and then go do it anyway because the badge is right there.

Not every change in Series 2 is about new content, and that is probably the part worth paying attention to. Playground has already stepped in on some abuse cases, including credit farming tied to The Eliminator and AFK methods on the Colossus track, so the update is also about cleaning up the economy and making sure the game stays fair for everyone else. Drag tires have been toned down too, which will upset a few leaderboard chasers, but it was hard to argue they were not doing too much before.
