U4GM Why Scrying Pool Confuses Players Path of Exile 2

Say "Scrying Pool" in PoE2 and half the room thinks Act 3, while the other half thinks Atlas farming. That mix-up matters, especially if you're spending PoE2 Currency on maps, scarabs, or a setup you don't even need yet.

Two systems are wearing the same name

The campaign Scrying Pool is part of The Runeseeker in Act 3. You speak with Farrow in the Mystic Refuge, then the quest points you toward the pool interaction. The annoying bit is the reported bug: for some players, the point of interest just won't respond. No grand puzzle, no hidden boss, no "you missed one mob" moment. It blocks Runic Knowledge, which stings, but it doesn't seem to lock you out of Act 4, Interludes, or mapping. So yeah, broken, but not a full character death sentence.

  1. Check whether you mean the Act 3 quest object or the Tier 16 Atlas Scrying system.
  2. If it is The Runeseeker bug, don't chase the Nameless Seer as a workaround.
  3. If it is card farming, stop looking around Mystic Refuge and start running eligible maps.

How the Nameless Seer version actually plays

Endgame Scrying is a different beast. There isn't some pool sitting in the map waiting for a click. You need the Nameless Seer, and current guide coverage puts him in eligible Tier 16 maps. He's described as spawning from natural monster kills, not the boss, not a chest, not a ritual-style object. When he shows up, you can use Scrying to move the divination card pool from the map you're in onto another non-unique Atlas map. The donor keeps its own cards. The recipient gets overwritten. Clean idea, but easy to misread.

  • Run dense Tier 16 maps with big pack size, because more natural monsters means more possible Seer checks.
  • Use fast layouts and avoid boss-rush habits, since the map boss is not the main event here.
  • Expect dry streaks, because no solid public spawn chance or pity timer has been confirmed.

Reality check: If you boss-rush these maps, you're basically skipping the spawn checks you came for.

Picking donors, recipients, and not bricking your plan

The spicy play is moving an ugly map's great card pool onto a clean farming layout. Defiled Cathedral gets talked up because of The Apothecary and Seven Years Bad Luck, but plenty of players hate actually clearing it. Tower has The Nurse and The Patient, yet its spiral path can feel like homework. That's why Tropical Island, Dunes, Beach, and City Square make sense as recipients. You're not choosing them for native cards. You're choosing them because your hands can run them again and again without getting miserable after twenty maps.

  • Remember that one map can't sit in multiple Scrying pairs at the same time.
  • The Scrying state is character-specific, so your alt won't inherit your mapper's setup.
  • Use an Orb of Scouring on the Atlas recipient only when you want to clear that pairing.

What I would do before committing

Before locking a pair, I'd check card prices, pick one fast recipient, and test a short session. If the market shifts, don't be stubborn. Save your chaos for maps that feel good, and buy cheap PoE2 Currency only when it supports a plan you'll actually run.
